AISI 4340 steel is Chromium Molybdenum Nickel + Silicon alloy steel. It has high-strength and high-toughness, good stability and high-hardenability and anti-overheating, good high tensile strength with shock resistance.
It is usually used in making gears, shafts, piston etc. Like the high wear-resistance parts which are used in plane and automotive etc.
